Tattoo Aftercare

A tattoo is a big commitment and an important symbol of self expression. Aftercare is critical and will affect how your tattoo heals. After your artist has finished they should have covered it with a none stick dressing.

  1. After one to two hours moisten the dressing with lukewarm water then carefully remove.
  2. Once uncovered wash it carefully with cold soapy water using an antibacterial soap. Wash your tattoo with clean hands using your fingers (never use a cloth) to remove all surface blood. Rinse with cold water and pat dry with a clean towel. Then gently apply your aftercare. Repeat the procedure 3 to 5 times a day for 7 to 10 days.
  3. After 2 to 5 days the tattoo will start to form a scab. Continue with your aftercare and let the scabs fall off naturally during washing or applying aftercare. You may be left with some dry skin after the main scabs have fallen off. If dry skin appears continue to moisturize the area.
  4. Do not over apply your aftercare.
  5. Do not apply Vaseline or petroleum based products.
  6. Do not re-dress your tattoo.
  7. Do not rub or pick your tattoo during healing.
  8. Do not expose your tattoo to direct sunlight during healing.
  9. Do not go swimming or soak in the bath until tattoo is fully healed.
  10. Do not allow clothing to rub against tattoo during healing.
